Tesla Dual Zone Fridge vs Dohome Fridge Y vs Cooler Y

by Titus Howe 27 Aug 2026

Tesla wants $595 for a Model Y fridge. Dohome ships two drop-in options from Los Angeles: Fridge Y at $269, and Cooler Y at $199 with no power draw.

Short answer:

  • Real freezer under the floor, without the Tesla tax → Fridge Y, $269
  • Cold drinks with zero range loss → Cooler Y, $199
  • OEM dual-zone and the Tesla badge → Tesla Dual Zone Fridge, $595

Tesla’s own cooler is a different product. It sits in the frunk, not the rear sub-trunk.

Dohome Technologies Corporation is a U.S. company. We design vehicle fridges for Tesla owners. This site is dohometech.com.

Side by side

Tesla Dual Zone Fridge Price $595. Rear sub-trunk. Powered, dual-zone. About 37 QT. 0°F to 68°F, two zones. 12V trunk outlet. Tesla Shop, stock has slipped.

What Tesla got right

Tesla taught every Model Y owner that the rear well can be a fridge. Dual-zone is real. The Tesla Shop checkout removes a lot of fear. You pay $326 more than Fridge Y for that, and Tesla’s floor is 0°F. Fridge Y goes to -4°F.

If OEM and dual-zone are the only things you care about, buy Tesla’s.

Fridge Y: the $269 freezer

Drop it in the Model Y sub-trunk, plug the DC cable into the rear outlet, put the floor cover back. Invisible from the cargo area. Use it for frozen food, Costco runs, camping with a mattress on the floor.

Parked overnight: Controls > Charging > Keep Accessory Power On. Extra energy. Off in Low Power Mode. Do not seal the well so tight that heat cannot leave. F4 or F5 means the unit is too hot. Vent it.

Cooler Y: zero battery drain

No plug. No app. No 12V cutoff after a software update. 45 QT, 2-inch PU, dual compartments, sealed lid.

Tesla’s cooler is a frunk product at $245–$275. Cooler Y is the rear well at $199, and it leaves the frunk free. A $25 Igloo also fits; Cooler Y is the upgrade when you want the lid closed and ice that lasts. Lab report JG-TR-E-057-003.

Which one to buy

Fridge Y if you road-trip, camp, or do Costco runs and want a freezer. Cooler Y if you hate range math and will put ice in it. Both still cost less than one Tesla Dual Zone Fridge. Tesla if you want dual-zone and the Tesla word on the receipt.

7-seat Model Y: both Dohome units sit about 1 inch above the well. Pick that option at checkout or email titus@dohometech.com with your year.
